North Korea says it will go ahead with a plan to launch a satellite next month and has accused President Obama of having a confrontational mindset for opposing the project. A North Korean foreign ministry official said it was a peaceful mission and an essential step for the country's economic development.
The United States and its allies in Asia say the launch is an attempt to disguise a long-range missile test.
